Man, do I love a good sunrise session…
Will is one of those grooms that doesn’t necessarily love getting his picture taken. He’s more of a homebody and would prefer to be there working on his truck. But it was Heather’s vision to have their engagement photos a couple hours from their home at Virginia Beach. And after almost 10 years together (they’re middle school sweethearts, can you believe it?!), he knows how to make her happy…so he agreed to travel for their session and wake up at sunrise.
We started their session at the Virginia Beach pier. Other than a few fishermen, we had the whole beach to ourselves. It was so peaceful! The coral-colored shirt she chose perfectly complimented the cotton candy skies that we had as our backdrop of a beautiful sunrise.
After we wrapped up at the pier and got some Dunkin’ (you know, the essentials), we headed to another beach spot that was super secluded. Here we were able to incorporate a few different coastal attributes into our session, like a beach walk and some tall grass on the dunes. The clouds actually showed up and gave us some beautiful overcast light to work with that delivered some gorgeous final images. Once again, Heather knocked it out of the park with her dress, a beautiful navy gown that just caught the wind perfectly. So as she and Will cuddled on the dunes and danced on the sand, I was snapping away bringing her engagement session dreams to life.
Heather and I met through another one of my brides and I must say…working with clients that are friends of previous clients is always a joy. I was able to learn more about Heather, Will, and their love story. One of my favorite things about Heather is her heart for service to the youth of our country. She is a preschool teacher and she loves what she does. You can just tell by the way she talks about her kids that she gives them her all every day she is teaching. One of my favorite parts about Will is the way he looks at Heather. It is easy to see why they make a good pair!
They were married in May of this year (yes, I am very late on blogging their engagement session…), and the ceremony and reception were as stunning as Heather is in these images. You can find the blog of their wedding here!
