Every maternity session is special because the couple typically nervous with anticipation and excitement of what is to come, especially when it’s their first child. But this maternity session was EXTRA special because that guy there is one of Caleb’s best friends from high school.
Yes, James used to third wheel our dates with us and always made sure we were on our best behavior back in the good ole days! How far we have come from hanging out in bowling alleys that were literally falling over (that’s a story for another time) to raising children close in age.
Laura Louise has such a special namesake. Laura was James’s mother’s name and Louise is a family name on Erin’s side. They brought both of their families together to honor them in the naming of their daughter. I am a sucker for family names, so this just makes me so happy!
Laura’s due date was April 28th…just one day off from Caleb’s birthday! So when Erin went into labor the morning of Caleb’s birthday, we thought for sure we were going to have a birthday twin. But Laura held off until the 30th, so that she could have her own day, and that just feels right. I can’t wait to celebrate Caleb’s birthdays with their sweet babe amidst bright pink balloons and unicorns and whatever else Laura Louise decides she loves. We were in Kentucky when she was born, and I will never forget the joy and excitement in James’s voice when he called and told us that he is officially a girl dad. That moment will be cherished for a long time. I just loved Caleb’s response, “Yep, it’s a game changer.” He has simple ways of putting things that encompass so much…and he’s right–a game changer, indeed!
This sweet season of parenthood is always better when you get to share it with friends, and I am so glad that we are able to share it with James and Erin.
