As a prior English teacher, I love telling each of my couple's love story. Each story is unique and in a culmination of love and a little planning, the wedding day brings that love to life in front of family and friends. As a lover of heirlooms and legacies, it's a joy to be alongside each of my couples as they create memories that will last forever for their children and grandchildren!

Stephanie & Drew | Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossom Engagement

Engagements

May 12, 2021

back to blog

After a few beautifully warm days that caused the cherry blossoms to bloom an entire WEEK early (first time in like 30 years that’s happened!!), a cold front came in and we weren’t sure they would hang on until the weekend when we had scheduled Stephanie and Drew’s engagement session. That cold front most certainly lasted during their session–believe it or not, it was about 17 degrees when these photos were taken! That beats my previous session temperature low of 19, which I didn’t think I would ever beat! I am just so thankful that the cherry blossoms held on until the weekend because they truly were showing off in the sunrise light.

In addition to the temperature, we weren’t sure we would even be able to access the Tidal Basin to get the iconic cherry blossom shots, but boy did we luck out! It was a great adventure and they were troopers throughout the cold and the uncertainty.

These two lovebirds are exact opposites and couldn’t be more right for one another! Stephanie lovesss having her photo taken, but Drew, on the other hand, was not as enthusiastic–especially since it was at sunrise! It was clear that he was willing to do whatever she wanted to make her happy, which was so cute.

One of their favorite things to do is explore new places and travel. Disney is one of Stephanie’s favorite places to go, and although the pandemic had threatened to cancel their trip to Disney, they were still able to make it happen. It was on the last night of this trip, in the privacy of a secluded spot on the hotel grounds, Drew popped the question. Stephanie noted that it was really special that the proposal happened when just the two of them were there. In fact, they kept the secret until they returned home to tell their loved ones in person! I love that!!

Stephanie and Drew are getting married next May, and I can’t wait to spend time with them and their families as they commit the rest of their lives to one another! 🙂
