As a prior English teacher, I love telling each of my couple's love story. Each story is unique and in a culmination of love and a little planning, the wedding day brings that love to life in front of family and friends. As a lover of heirlooms and legacies, it's a joy to be alongside each of my couples as they create memories that will last forever for their children and grandchildren!

2020 has been a hell of a year for us all. But I truly do feel for my brides and grooms that have had to pivot plans, scramble for new vendors, and sacrifice their dream wedding day to keep their friends and family safe.

Colleen & Alex are one of those couples. I didn’t know either of them until about two months ago when Colleen contacted me about photographing her NEW wedding date in her parents’ backyard. Her original venue had marble floors and gorgeous chandeliers that she told me about, but honestly…the backyard of her parents’ house was beautiful, complete with a garden and a beautiful floral arch that her sister-in-law designed! Small details, like the handkerchief that was embroidered with Alex’s Nana’s writing, really made the day heartfelt and love-centered.

During their ceremony, they were surrounded by 30 of their closest family and friends while saying their vows. Although it rained most of the morning, the rain stopped momentarily, just long enough for them to say their vows and for us to take some family portraits and portraits of the bride and groom! Even if it did pick back up off and on, it didn’t dampen the spirits of everyone in attendance!

These two are a very low-key couple and mostly just wanted the guests that could make it to their wedding day to have a good time! Because Colleen and Alex have been together for seven years, their families already seemed like one. It was a great sight to see everyone come together!

Their dogs also stole the show—Gary and Leeroy are the best! They were the flower girl and ring bearer and I loved it!! Can you believe they even kept their outfits on well into the reception?! I was impressed. Additionally, Colleen was even able to find a cake topper that incorporated the pups, which I was impressed by!
