As a prior English teacher, I love telling each of my couple's love story. Each story is unique and in a culmination of love and a little planning, the wedding day brings that love to life in front of family and friends. As a lover of heirlooms and legacies, it's a joy to be alongside each of my couples as they create memories that will last forever for their children and grandchildren!

Heather & Zach | Sunset Anniversary Session in Downtown Charleston | Rainbow Row

Portraits

March 25, 2020

back to blog

Let’s talk about a PHOTOGRAPHER’S DREAM. In most photographers’ dreams, they imagine a dream location (like Rainbow Row in downtown Charleston), with sweet clients (like Heather and Zach) who ask what to wear (which they did and she somehow miraculously had everything we described in their closets) and just blindly trust us as we choose locations (even if it’s hard to imagine what the finished product might look like).

So when I say Heather and Zach were a DREAM, I mean they were a DREAM. Oh, and did I mention that Kassie, my partner in crime who allowed me to tag along with her on her trip to Charleston, discovered Heather and Zach’s existence at 8am the morning of the shoot!? That’s right! We were dying to shoot a couple while we were down, and Heather and Zach answered our prayers. She even had Zach run home and grab their outfits and she came downtown straight from work with her scrubs still on. I’m not sure they realize how much we appreciate them doing whatever they can to make this happen!

When we met them, we assured them we were not crazy—just simply creatives dying to shoot in an iconic Southern location. Within five minutes, Heather had invited us to stay with them the next time we visit Charleston. THIS. This is why I love photography. It brings the sweetest, most genuine people into my life!

They insisted they had never taken professional photos before, but honestly, their love was so natural in front of the camera, you would have thought they were either professional models or that the camera wasn’t even there! One of my favorite things to watch during sessions is how the husband looks at the wife in between shots, and Zach…well, he never stopped smiling at Heather regardless of whether our cameras were up or by our side. That, ladies and gentlemen, is true love.

Thank you to Heather and Zach for making our photographer dreams come true! Thank you to Kassie for putting in the legwork to make this session happen and allowing me to be part of it!

Until next time, Charleston!
