As a prior English teacher, I love telling each of my couple's love story. Each story is unique and in a culmination of love and a little planning, the wedding day brings that love to life in front of family and friends. As a lover of heirlooms and legacies, it's a joy to be alongside each of my couples as they create memories that will last forever for their children and grandchildren!

First Snow of 2019 | Stafford, Virginia

Personal

January 14, 2019

back to blog

What better way to celebrate my birthday than with the first snowfall of 2019?!

Snow has always been magical to me. The way it settles on the ground, the leaves and branches of every tree, the fence posts, cars, and houses. Nothing can escape it. My favorite kind of snow is the kind we got yesterday and today—the fluffy kind. Fluffy snow seems to absorb every sound to make the entire world calm even if just for a few hours. It’s such a peaceful feeling amidst the hustle and bustle of northern Virginia. While we lived in North Carolina, we only got snow once, so I felt like it was much overdue!

Huxley experienced the second snow of her life, but the first real snow was today. She was not a fan of the “Christmas Story”-esque snowsuit we put her in, even if she was the most adorable little snow bunny alive. Then the wind blew and a bunch of the snow fell off the branches and onto us, and she was definitely ready to call it quits.

I anticipated the dogs would love it and would run around like crazy. Koda played outside with us for a while, catching snowballs that Caleb tossed at him. Kenai, on the other hand, was not a fan and we could not coax him outside. He stayed in the doorway of the garage as Caleb and Koda played and Huxley and I took photos.

These special, sweet moments are exactly the ones I promised I would catch this year! Sometimes I find myself reserving my camera for sessions only, but there is so much beauty in everyday life!
