As a prior English teacher, I love telling each of my couple's love story. Each story is unique and in a culmination of love and a little planning, the wedding day brings that love to life in front of family and friends. As a lover of heirlooms and legacies, it's a joy to be alongside each of my couples as they create memories that will last forever for their children and grandchildren!

Despite the Distance | Jordan Hobson

“Despite the distance, love conquers all.”

Meet Jordan. She and her Marine have been married for just over two years and are currently kicking their second deployment’s butt. She is dog mom to two rambunctious dogs, Rhino and Tracker, and a cat mom to her feline friend named Carrie. She and her husband are high school sweethearts and are west coast natives, but have been enjoying their time on the east coast. Her husband proposed on Valentine’s Day and they were married in the local courthouse just four days later. They are yet another couple working on the Marine Corp’s timeline, rather than their own.

Their biggest moment of growth was during their first deployment. Although they had been long distance before, this type of long distance was different than what they had previously experienced. With the time difference bigger than it had ever been, it was hard to find times to communicate and really stay in tune with one another. Thankfully, though, they were able to navigate through that time in order to become a stronger couple. Additionally, the deployment was a little bit longer than a typical peace-time deployment. They were apart for nine months! He is now on his second deployment that could be anywhere from six to eight months again.

“Friendsgiving” is a tradition that Jordan and her friends have adopted since embarking on the military life roller coaster. This is a tradition where they invite their friends over for a Thanksgiving meal and celebrate with them when they are unable to travel all the way home for the holiday. Military holidays are sometimes cut short due to training or duty or any other small thing that may pop up. Caleb and I have hosted a couple Friendsgivings ourselves and it really helped me get through the holidays while he was on deployment.

Jordan currently works full-time at Firehouse Subs and has worked her way up to shift manager. Sometimes this requires crazy shift hours, but she is enjoying her position there! While she is content at Firehouse, she doesn’t plan on that being her last stepping stone. She is also in the process of using her MyCAA benefits to enroll in a dental assistant program to fulfill her dream! Working full-time, going to school, keeping up her household, and caring for their three pets is just a glimpse into Jordan’s life!
